Cottonwood Streetscape Project is Completed

This project was completed in October of 2025. Thank you to all who made this possible. The contractors did a wonderful job on this project. Please do not drive Semi trucks on this route.

The City was awarded a K-DOT Transportation Alternative (TA) Grant in July 2022. This is an 80/20 grant that will allow the city to resurface Cottonwood Ave. from the US Hwy 50 and Cottonwood Ave. intersection South to the intersection of Cottonwood Ave. and KS Hwy 177. There will be new curbs, gutters, sidewalks, handicap parking, crosswalks and a loading/unloading zone as part of this project. Water lines for homes in the project area have been moved in preperation for the project. There will be a slightly raised & Stamped drivable median from 5th Street North to East 6th St.

K-DOT accepted bids from contractors in September 2024. The contractor awarded the project is Killough Construction, Inc. out of Ottawa, KS.

This project connects to the SRTS project that was completed in 2023.

Construction began during July 2025.
