Welcome to Strong City

Heart of the Flinthills
Strong City is located in Chase, [CS], County in the heart of the beautiful Flinthills on the Scenic Byway, Highway 177. The city itself is famous for its rodeo each summer. The rodeo is one of the first and largest P.R.C.A. approved rodeos in the nation. It attracts over 20,000 visitors in the first week of June and draws contestants from all over the world. The parade travels from Cottonwood Falls to Strong City, the two communities being one mile apart.  The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve (aka Spring Hill Ranch and Z-Bar Ranch) is located just 2 miles from Strong City.  Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. The nearly 11,000-acre preserve is co-managed by the National Park Service and The Nature Conservancy (a nongovernmental, non-profit organization). The preserve represents a nationally significant portion of the once vast tallgrass ecosystem and includes buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Preserve was established explicitly as a unique public/private partnership between the National Park Service and the Nature Conservancy.
